Merry Christmas to all

WE ARE busy cooking up a turkey--a day late actually. Nobody gets Christmas off here, so we had to wait a day until we were both off. Dog is chewing on the corner of the desk, ignoring her perfectly good dog food. Just watched a clip on a Christmas-day snowstorm in Dallas. AGW "deniers" like myself simply love stories like these.

Hey, man, ya raised in a barn?

NO, ACTUALLY it was a house in San Mateo, Ca. The pic's from Thanksgiving. Really good, and how many wives would actually let you eat without a shirt. My lame defense: It was hot in the kitchen making the gravy. Tonight as I type this, I am reminded that I do have a lot to be thankful for. One of the big ones is the fake beer I am reaching for right now. What's so special about a fake beer? Nothing. It's the real beer, the one I haven't reached for in 25 years that's special. So I guess in the grand scheme of things, after a quarter century of sobriety, one Thanksgiving sans shirt is probably forgivable. I promise to wear a shirt for Christmas dinner and post the evidence.

 

Record failures

IT IS quite a distinction our 44th president has achieved as he ends his first year in office. He is both the most unpopular and the most polarizing and partisan president in our lifetime.

Obama's best speech

CREDIT WHERE credit is due. Obama gave a good speech in Oslo. As it follows his terrible address at West Point, makes it even more special. It took a year, but he has at last figured out that there are malevolent forces in the world that cannot be engaged, only exterminated. Obama called these people evil, as did Bush.
